ABOUT MC-CAMFT
The Monterey County Chapter of the California Association of Marriage Family Therapists (MC-CAMFT) has been active since 1989. Our chapter is comprised of over 160 licensed, associate and pre-licensed members who provide services to individuals, couples, families and groups regarding relationship issues.
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (MFTs) have a Masters degree and are licensed by the State Board of Behavioral Sciences. Licensure requires passing two written examinations and 3000 hours of supervised internship.
MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
If you are considering joining MC-CAMFT we invite you to read over the many benefits that chapter membership provides. We are proud of the very active chapter we have in Monterey County and of the generous spirit of its members. Being a therapist can be a lonely and isolating profession. If you want a sense of community, camaraderie and support for the important work you are doing, this is place to meet other therapists in our area.
We also provide a chance to have fun and socialize with like-minded people. Becoming a Board member is also an excellent way to jump-start your involvement in the local therapist community.
MC-CAMFT benefits include:
Monthly Luncheons and Programs
Our chapter meetings are held on the second Friday of the month nine months of the year. For upcoming events, schedule, and details see the Event Calendar. At each of the monthly luncheon meetings we feature a guest speaker sharing expertise on topics of interest to therapists. MC-CAMFT members receive a discounted luncheon fee and CEUs are available for an additional nominal fee. Monthly meetings are an excellent opportunity to network with colleagues, trade business cards, distribute flyers, announce events, expand your professional referral base and meet new clinicians in the area.

Mailing Labels, Advertising and Classified Ads
Members of the chapter and other professionals in the community are able to buy chapter mailing labels. The price for members is significantly less than for non-members. Members may also advertise in the newsletter via ads or flyers. Advertising is available for other organizations, individuals and agencies who are interested in publicizing information, services, events relevant to psychotherapy.
Other Programs and Events
From time to time, special events and programs are hosted by our chapter. We have hosted a panel of family law attorneys and therapists, and more recently an evening member speaker series to accommodate those members unable to attend the Friday luncheon meetings. Each December we host a holiday party offering an opportunity for members to socialize in a more casual and celebratory atmosphere.
